What my Company Does

After 13 months of development, Grass Frames is proud to be launching our first line of Bamboo Bicycles. We handcraft sustainable and ethically sourced bicycles with the goal of pushing the limits of eco-responsibility while making it fun and personalized for our customer. Our bikes are made of bamboo tubing, bound with hemp fiber and a plant based epoxy, all of which are sourced as locally as possible. We are currently working on a plan to grow our own bamboo right here in Vancouver. Additional components are added to customize the look of the bicycle and turn a bamboo frame into a single, fixed or multiple geared model. We also work with local artists who can hand paint requested designs on each bicycle making them truly a reflection of its owner. Thus far, our bicycles have been featured nationally on CBC, in local newspapers and at trade shows such as MEC bike fest and EPIC!

What makes me a Future Entrepreneurial Leader:

We don't chose to live downtown because it is cheaper. We live downtown because it means that we are closer to home, cutting down on our commute each day and making more time to spend with the people we value. Grass Frames is Canada's first bamboo bike company manufacturing and selling handcrafted frames and bikes made right here in Vancouver. We want you to be on the cutting edge of amenities as well. Our frames are the luxury in modern bicycle frames. Not only are they beautiful but they are also lightweight, durable and a high quality ride. Our commuter frames are not only for athletes, they are crafted for the modern professional as a statement piece. Unique in aesthetic, they make it known that not only is the rider eco-conscious, because they cut down on vehicle usage, they have taken a further step towards sustainability by considering the material and process used to make one. No longer a tool used for athletics, frames need to be lighter to accommodate riders who aren't lifting weights. Our frames are 3-6 lbs (total bike weight is from 17 lbs). Some other bicycles can weigh 30-40 lbs. Much too heavy for an average person. Most of all, we are based in Vancouver and know the value of waterproofing and durability. Our frames come with a 10 year warrantee we can confidently stand behind; after all, bamboo has supported buildings for hundreds of years in Asia.

Bamboo bikes of sustainable materials (bamboo, hemp and plant-based epoxy) are an idea whose time has come. What a innovative production process for basic, stylish and sustainable transportation.

Met these guys this year - Making bike frames out of bamboo! How cool is that!

Plus I love how bamboo and biking tie in on the eco side of things. Let's use that noxious weed to make something cool!
